'Wave of Maldon' is a superb example of this popular size of Dutch steel motor cruiser, constructed to an excellent standard and a very high specification by the highly regarded Flevo Jachtbouw yard. Build commenced in 1995 and was commissioned in 1998.
She has a more seagoing underwater profile than normally found including stabilising bilge keels which combined with the internal and external helm position make her ideal for long distance economical cruising USING ONLY 1 LITRE PER MILE
Her layout has been designed to create a luxurious and spacious liveaboard cruiser with two very good en-suite sleeping cabins and a full inventory including all electric cooking, central heating, double glazing, washing machine, large fridge and separate freezer, genset, Raymarine nav equipment and more.
She has been maintained irrespective of cost by her current owners .
A great alternative to the more common Linssen Grand Sturdy 470 or Aquanaut Drifter 500 at a hugely competitive price.
MECHANICAL
Located in a spacious and well-lit engine room with watertight bulkheads fore and aft, accessed via reduced height walkway
beneath forward passageway steps, Perkins Sabre 225TI six-cylinder 225hp diesel engine. New starter batteries fitted 2021 charged underway via 150 amp 24 volt dedicated alternator with split charge relay to charge bow thruster/anchor winch battery bank, Freshwater cooled via heat exchanger with twin seawater intake filters (all seacocks and pipework renewed 2017). Single lever controls and hydraulic
wheel steering at both helms. Twin 1000 litre fuel tanks (Tanks cleaned and fuel polished 2023) with balance system and twin Separ water separators/fuel filters.
Shaft drive (60mm shaft new 2015 inc thrust bearing) via PRM 2.88:1 reduction gearbox through a Dintra flexible coupling
(new 2015) and oil filled sterntube to 5-bladed bronze propeller, Spurs Rope Cutter fitted 2023. Electric 8hp bow thruster (rebuilt 2017) with new controls at both helms fitted 2021.Bow thruster and anchor winch have separate battery bank (new 2021) charged via dedicated whisper Power battery charger/engine alternator via split charger
The current owner has kept the mechanical systems to a superb standard with a regular schedule of preventative
maintenance and the engine has proved very reliable during their five years of ownership. Current engine hours are
approx. 5820hrs and they have found that when cruising at around 7kts (approx. 1400 rpm) the fuel consumption is
approximately one litre per nautical mile, offering an impressive cruising range and very low fuel costs for a boat of this size.
The compartment offers excellent access to all systems together with plenty of storage areas for tools and other items.

Shore power system with ring mains, immersion coil for water heating and Victron Phoenix Multi+ 70 amp battery charger with 3000w
inverter capable of running both fridges and various other items whilst away from shore power. Vetus 10kva diesel genset

saloon lighting for night navigation.

DOMESTIC
Wave of Maldon' is fitted out to a high standard and her layout offers six berths with two luxurious sleeping cabins away
from the main accommodation. Headroom throughout is excellent with 6'7" or more in all cabins and the saloon, it would
also be easy to modify her seating to offer further berths in the wheelhouse saloon if required.
FORWARD CABIN: Twin V-berth (generous 208 x 90cm with slight taper to forward end) with storage beneath, hanging
locker, radiator and portlights. A full-size washing machine and under counter freezer are concealed forward and are currently
arranged with a small child's pipe cot above but this area is also useful for additional storage or work surface area. Access to en suite heads
compartment.
FORWARD HEADS: Spacious heads compartment to starboard with freshwater gravity flush toilet to holding tank (with deck
or overboard discharge), separate shower enclosure, washbasin with mixer tap, vanity unit, storage and radiator.
GALLEY: L-shaped galley with generous work surfaces, equipped with a ceramic four ring electric hob (new 2015) and
extractor fan, Bosch combination 900w microwave, grill and 1500w fan assisted oven, Electrolux 166 litre Class A
fridge with freezer compartment (new 2013), sink, ample worktop and stowage space, space with plumbing for a full size dishwasher and a base
unit heater (from the central heating but with a fan to aid circulation). All equipment can be powered by shorepower or
generator to allow cooking whilst passage making without the safety concerns of gas or the need to change bottles. Below sink reverse osmosis water filter system for drinking water (New 2023)
WHEELHOUSE SALOON: The centrally heated saloon has excellent natural light and ventilation creating a very comfortable area to relax or entertain in. All windows are tinted and except for the two opening windows, all are double glazed. Fully equipped internal helm position forward to port with a helmsman's seat, instrumentation, full suite of navigation equipment and generator control panel. An entertainment unit to starboard with full-size chart table conceals a hidden electrically raised 32" LCD TV, entertainment system in cupboard linked to the fitted ceiling speaker system and a second LEC 45 litre fridge (new 2016). L-shaped settee to starboard with storage beneath, a free standing Stressless leather reclining chair and a folding (stowable) teak table offer comfortable seating for six to eight. Excellent storage is provided beneath the seating and in large
lockers outboard beneath the deck. The suedette upholstery and complimenting carpets are in excellent condition and were
all renewed in 2016. Carpeted steps up to aft deck fore and aft down to galley and aft cabin.
EXTERNAL SPACE: The raised aft cockpit has a helm position to starboard with 2 person bench helm seat, with storage below, and navigation equipment and a large open aft deck offering excellent space for alfresco dining and entertaining. Bridge area cockpit enclosure (new 2011) which can be used as a bimini and is designed to allow easy access fore and aft. Wide side decks with good steps, high bulwarks and heavy duty stainless steel guard rails with side gates make deck work a pleasure.
Transom mounted steel davits with winches for dinghy stowage which can swivel to reduce length when not in use.
DINETTE - Opposite of the galley is a good-sized dinette providing seating for four to six people which converts to form
another double berth. Additional storage is provided beneath the seats and on bookshelves outboard. Access to the
impressive engine bay is via a watertight door concealed by the lifting steps up to the saloon.
OWNER'S AFT CABIN: The impressive full-width cabin has a large (200cm x 140cm) island double berth with custom made
luxury mattress, beneath berth stowage, two bedside cabinets, hanging and clothes lockers, bench seat, further stowage,
reading lights, four opening portlights, radiator and access to en suite heads.
AFT HEADS: A larger than usual en suite heads compartment is fitted with a 5ft long bath with shower above, fresh water
gravity flush toilet to holding tank (with deck or overboard discharge), vanity unit with hand basin, cupboards, mirror and
opening portlight.

Construction
Flevo 1495 Spiegelkotter designed by Martin Bekebrede (responsible for many other highly regarded designs including the
Noordkaper range, Vri-Jon OK and Steeler NG) and built by Flevo Jachtbouw of Nikerk, Netherlands in 1996 across an 18mth
period, first commissioned in 1998. Green steel displacement round bilge hull (topsides professionally resprayed with Awlgrip
paint in 2005, bottom sandblasted and coated with Jotun epoxy in 2011) with long keel profile protecting propeller and
stabilising bilge keels to reduce roll (professionally fitted in 2010). Cream steel superstructure and decks professionally
resprayed with Awlgrip paint in 2015. Re-antifouled 2023. New anodes fitted throughout 2023. Dual station hydraulic wheel steering. Her air draft is a very useful 3.5m (11'6") with the
mast lowered allowing access to much of the French canal system, and 10.5m (34'5") with the mast up.
